JAMES THE SECOND'S MARCH. AKA and see "Garter (The)", "King James' March". English, Air (4/4 time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune appears in the 7th edition of John Playford's Dancing Master of 1686 (appears as "The Garter") and in later editions (as "King James's March, or the Garter"). It was retained in the long-running series through the 16th edition of 1716. It was also published in Walsh's Country Dancing Master, editions of 1718 and 1731.
