Tune properties and standard notation
JENNY'S DREAM. Canadian, Hornpipe. Canada, Cape Breton. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB. Dunlay and Greenberg (1996) relate that a friend of the family of fiddler Donald MacLellan, one Jenny Davis, dreamt the tune one night and 'deedled' it to Donald's father Ronald, who noted it on the violin. The family named it in her honor. It has also been attributed to Karen Steele. The tune derives from O'Carolan's harp air "Princess Royal (1) (The)," a 3/4 time melody.
