Blessings of Silver
BLESSINGS OF SILVER, THE. Irish, Reel. G Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. A interesting reel composed by County Cavan/Philadelphia fiddle player and composer Ed Reavy (1898-1988), that shifts through various minor-sounding modes, with a hint of major tonality in places. Ed's son Joe remarks that the tune was written for the 25th wedding anniversary of Lou and Mary Quinn. Reavy's friend, Armagh-born, Flushing, Queens-based, Louie Quinn was a fellow fiddler of some skill.
