Bonny Prince Charlie (1)
BONNY PRINCE CHARLIE [1]. Scottish, Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was written by Neil Gow Jr. (c. 1795-1823) son of Nathaniel and grandson of the famous fiddler Niel Gow (who spelled his first name differently). An amateur musician who entered the medical profession, this Gow died at the early age of 28. James Hogg set lyrics to the tune, a version of Gow's jig "Lady Ann Carnegie's Favorite."
