GALOP DES JUIFS.   French, Galop (2/4 time).  C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABCBC.  "Galop des tuifs" was the work of French composer Philippe Musard (1792-1859), a prolific and very popular composer of ball-room music such as quadrilles and galops. The galop was printed in Glasgow in Hamilton's Universal Tune Book vol. 2 (1846) and was copied into the large music manuscript collection of prosperous Nova Scotia dairy farmer, miller and fiddler James Barry, who is know to have had access to the Hamilton's Universal volumes.
