GENERAL PRINCE BLUCHER'S VICTORY. English, March (6/8 time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher (1742-1819) was an aggressive Prussian Field Marshall who won distinction for leading his army against Napoleon I at the Battle of the Nations at Leipzig in 1813 and the Battle of Waterloo in 1815. The intervention of Blücher's army at Waterloo, allied with the British, was the decisive factor in the battle.

See also Whitchurch, Shropshire, musician Robert Hughes' "General Blucher" which is cognate in the first strain (the second strain differs from Campbell).
