JIM CROW QUADRILLE [1]. English, Quadrille part (2/4 time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The "Jim Crow Quadrilles" are five tunes variously in duple and triple time that make up a quadrille set. They were entered into the c. 1860's music manuscript collection of musician William Tildesley of Swinton, Lancashire. There is another set of quadrilles called "The Crow Quadrilles," published in America in 1837 that consists of instrumental versions of blackface minstrel songs[1], but they are not related to Tildesley's quadrille parts save for the last, "Jim Crow Quadrille (5)" which is a version of the minstrel showcase "Jim Crow."
