LADY CHARLOTTE OF BAIRD'S. AKA - "Lady Charlotte of Braids (sic) Strathspey." AKA and see "Captain Rutheven's Fancy," "Lord Lyndoch." Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The title may have been garbled in the American Howe/Ryan/Cole publications (see below)--however, 'Baird' is the name of one of the noble families of Scotland, and it is possible the title originally was "Lady Charlotte Baird's". The tune is set as a reel, collected by Peter Kennedy, under the name "Captain Rutheven's Fancy." For more on Charlotte Baird see "Annotation:Lady Haddo."

A faint hint of "Cripple Creek," suggests John Hartford. Compare also with "Jenny Picking Cockles (1)."
