MARCH OF THE CLAN SUIBHNE. Irish, March (whole time). Ireland, County Donegal. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABC. A clan march collected in 1903 by Padraig Mac Aodh O'Neill from the playing of Fanad, Donegal, fiddler Seaghan Mac Giolla Carr, who was over eighty years of age at the time. Padraig Mac Aodh O'Neill published it in his Songs of Uladh (1904). Caoimhìn Mac Aoidh (1994, Between the Jigs and Reels) states it is clearly in pipe style and believes this dates the Donegal fiddle tradition of imitating pipe music to the mid-1800's, at least.
