MISS CRUIKSHANK'S REEL [1] (--GLASS). See "Cuir Sa' Chiste Mhóir Mi," “Miss Hopkin's Reel,” "Old Time Wedding Reel (3)" and "Put Me in the Big Chest." AKA Scottish, Reel. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Biography:William Marshall (1748-1833) and appearing under this title in his 1822 collection. The parish of Glass is in the Deveron river valley, west of Huntly. Marshall’s grand-daughter Mary married into the Cruickshank family and the title may refer to an in-law of hers. The melody earlier appears in Marshall’s A Collection of Strathspey Reels, p. 11, (1781) as "Miss Hopkin's Reel". See also “Primrose Girl (1),” “Rose in the Garden (1) (The).”
