John Glen (1891) finds the earliest appearance of this tune in print in Biography:Joshua Campbell's Collection of Newest and Best Reels and Minuets (1778, p. 59). Robert Petrie published it as "Miss Kinloch's Reel" in his Third Collection of Strathspey Reels (1802).
