"Planxty Mary McClare" was composed by Mick Furey, Maltby, Rotherham, Yorkshire, in honor of Mary McLare, also of nearby Rotherham, who died in 2002. Mary founded a branch of Comhaltas Ceoltórirí Éireann in the 1960's, keeping going until in the 1970's Irish music gained in popularity in the area with a subsequent burgeoning of participation.
