QUADRILLE DES MARCHANDS. French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). A Major (originally). Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. "Quadrille des marchands" was in the repertory of accordion player Joseph Guillmette (1886-1950), originally recorded in the key of 'A' major. Guillmette was born in Natashquan, Québec, in September, 1886, and died in Rimouski toward the end of the year, 1950. He was a master of the small accordion, known for his impeccable technique and varied repertoire.
