ROYAL ARCHERS [1], THE. AKA and see "Kentish Bowmen (The)," "Miss Betsey Thoughtless." English, Reel and Country Dance (4/4 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. "The Royal Archers," with the alternate title "The Kentish Bowmen", was printed along with directions for a country dance in London publishers Samuel, Ann and Peter Thompson's Twenty Four Country Dances for the Year 1792. However, it had earlier been published in John Hinton's periodical The Universal Magazine of Knowledge and Pleasure in 1753 as "Miss Betsey Thoughtless."
