The Roane County RamblersCALLAHAN RAG. AKA and see "Callahan (1)," "Last of Callahan." American, Reel (cut time). A Major. AEae tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Callahan Rag", loosely a version of the Appalachian reel "Callahan", was in the repertory of east Tennessee fiddler Jimmie McCarroll (b. 1892) and his group The Roane County Ramblers, who recorded it for Columbia in October, 1929. It was their third and final recording session, held in Johnson City, Tennessee. "Callahan Rag" was attributed to Cherokee musicians in the McCarroll family, who claimed to have Cherokee ancestry.
