DRUNKEN DRUMMER, THE. English, Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody also appears in the c. 1780-1804 music manuscript collection of British army fifer biography:John Buttery (as "The Drunken Drummer, a Quickstep"), originally from Lincolnshire, who served twenty years or more at the beginning of the 19th century. In later years Buttery emigrated to Ontario, Canada, bringing his music manuscript with him.
