FAREWELL TO LEITRIM. AKA and see "John Roy Stewart (1)," "Kennaw's Reel (1)," "Lawson's Favorite," "Fiddler's Frolic (1) (The)," "Maude Miller (1)," "Molloy's Favourite (1)," "Reidy Johnson's (1)," "Take Her Out and Air Her (2)," "Roll Her in the Haystack," "Hawthorn's Reel." Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Sligo fiddler Michael Coleman recorded the tune in New York in 1921 on his very first 78 rpm side, on which it was the second tune in a set entitled "Reidy Johnson's"). Coleman's Donegal-born New York protege Hughie Gillespie recorded the same two reels, calling this one "Farewell to Leitrim." Influential button accordionist Joe Burke later used Gillespie's title when he recorded the tune.
