FLATWOODS [2]. American, Reel. USA, Kentucky. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Phillips, Titon): AAAABB (Kuntz). Bobby Fulcher (1986) states that the tune was formerly unfamiliar outside of Wayne County, Ky., in the Cumberland Plateau region, although the name had some currency and, in fact, a number of loosely connected tunes bear this title. Jeff Titon (2001) similarly calls the title a 'floater' and says unrelated melodies as called "Flatwoods" have been collected in Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia.
