FORFAR HUNT, THE. AKA and see "Dunrobin Castle (4)," "Jimmy's Return," "Séamus Meehan's." Scottish, Reel (whole time). B Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Lerwick, Shears): AABB' (Athole). Composition credited to A. Allan by MacDonald in the Skye Collection. The 'hunt' of the title refers to a genteel hunting and social club. Forfar, in Angus, is the supposed site of the last great battle between the Picts and the Scots in 845, before Kenneth MacAlpin united the kingdoms.
