GALLUA TOM. Scottish, Air or Dance Tune (3/4 time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. "Gallua Tom" appears in the Straloch Manuscript (1627-29, p. 26) arranged for the lute. The ms. was written by or for Scottish cartographer, poet, mathematician, antiquary, and geographer wikipedia:Robert_Gordon_of_Straloch (1580-1661). Unfortunately the original manuscript was lost, but not before being copied by Scottish musicologist wikipedia:George_Farquhar_Graham (1789-1867) in the early 19th century (National Library of Scotland ms adv.5.2.18).

The melody has no relation to O'Farrell's "Galloway Tom (2)."
