GOLDEN WEDDING REEL [1]. AKA and see "Farmer's Reel (2)" (Prince Edward Island), "Richibucto Reel" (New Brunswick). Canadian, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The composition is credited to Canadian radio and TV fiddler Don Messer in the Mel Bay publication that bears his name, however, other tunes in the book also credited to Messer are obviously traditional (e.g. "Billy in the Lowground"). Messer, originally from New Brunswick, did feature this tune in his playing repertoire and it has become a Canadian "Down East"-style standard, heard sometimes in the New England repertoire as well.
