HARE IN THE CORN [4], THE (An Giorria San Arbhar). AKA and see "Cat in the Corner (2) (The)," "Quarry Cross Slide (2) (The)," "Sleamhnáin chrosaire an chairéil no. 2." Irish, Slide (12/8 time). Ireland, Sliabh Luachra region of the Cork-Kerry border. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. Famed Sliabh Luachra fiddler and teacher Padraig O'Keeffe (1887-1963) played the tune in a medley with "Gleanntán Frolics (1) (The)" and "Gleanntán Frolics (2)." Source O'Leary sometimes called the tune "The Cat in the Corner" [Moylan]. In liner notes to RTE 174, Peter Browne remarks the tune is widely played in Sliabh Luachra and suggests a possible relationship with "Oh lassie art thou sleeping yet."
