HAS SORROW THY YOUNG DAYS SHADED? [1]. AKA and see "Sly Patrick." Irish, Air (3/4 time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABB. The title comes from an early 19th century song by Thomas Moore set to the tune of a piece called "Sly Patrick." It appears in his Irish Melodies, vol. 6, and begins:

Has sorrow thy young days shaded,
As clouds o'er the morning fleet?
Too fast have those young days faded
That, even in sorrow, were sweet?
Does Time with his cold wing wither
Each feeling that once was dear?
Then, child of misfortune, come hither,
I'll weep with thee, tear for tear.
