AB (O'Neill/1850): AA'BB' (O'Neill/Krassen). "Hornless Cow [1]" was entered as an untitled reel in the c. 1863-73 music manuscript collection of County Mayo fiddler and farmer Philip Carolan (c. 1839-1910). The reel may also be found as an untitled piece in Book 2 (No. 159) of the large c. 1883 music manuscript collection of County Leitrim fiddler and piper Stephen Grier (c. 1824-1894). Researcher Conor Ward [2015] finds the reel in the music manuscript collection of Francis Reynolds of Gaigue, Ballinamuck, Co. Longford, compiled in the last quarter of the 19th century. The title in the Reynolds collection is "Funny Days of Easter (The)." "His version is similar to the one synonymous with the flute player John Blessing of Aughavas, Co. Leitrim," states Connor, "Given the proximity of Blessing to Gaigue, the title in the manuscript was probably the one used in the region by local musicians."
