HOUGH'S FAVORITE. American, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Michael McKernan suggests the title may refer to Albyron E. (A.E.) Hough, who played in the band of fiddler and bandleader Abram Pushee (see note for "Pushee's Hornpipe") in Lebanon, New Hampshire, in the mid-19th century[1]. Hough was influential in continuing the band after Pushee's death. McKernan says he was known as a cornetist, and believes he also played the fiddle, and he is recorded as having tuned pianos.
