I'VE GOT A GRANDPA. American, Reel (cut time). USA, Kentucky. A Dorian. G Major (fiddle). AB. Jeff Titon (2001) describes this tune as a variant of "Barlow Knife (1)." The tune starts off in A modal, but the first strain cadences resolve to the key of 'G' and the entire second strain is in 'G' major. These lyrics were sometimes sung to the tune, according to Mark Wilson:
I've got a grandpa, bless his old soul;
All he wants is a peter in the hole.
