Irish, Jig (6/8 time). This is, of course, the famous "Irish Washerwoman, which Breathnach (1996) dates, in its present form, to the 1780's. The absence of Walker 'Piper' Jackson's name attached to the tune in 18th century printings, says Breathnach, suggests he had nothing to do with composing the tune.
