MRS. CHREE. AKA - "Mrs. Cree." Scottish, Highland Schottische or Strathspey (whole time). F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Mrs. Chree" was composed by Aberdeenshire fiddler-composer and Scottish dancing master wikipedia:James_Scott_Skinner (1843-1927). Skinner noted that Mrs. Chree resided at the schoolhouse, Keig in Aberdeenshire. She presumably was a schoolmaster's wife. In the 1870's the schoolmaster at Kreig, Aberdeenshire, was George Chree (1833-1910), who had married Helen Johnstone ("Mrs. Chree") in 1862. They were not the only Chree inhabitants of the dwelling, for their children William, Rev. George Johnstone Chree, James, Helen Elizabeth, Charles, and John Strachan Chree also lived there. In addition to being the schoolmaster, George was the Registrar of Births.
