HARDIE KNUTE. AKA - "Battle of Largs (The)," "Hardy Knute." Scottish, Air (3/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDD. The title relates to an invasion of Scotland by Haco, king of Norway, in 1263. The poem "Hardy-knute" is supposed to have been composed by Elizabeth Halket, second daughter of Sir Charles Halket of Pitfirrane, about the year 1702, reworked by poet Allan Ramsay.
