INDIAN WHOOP [4]. American, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABBC. The melody appears in George P. Knauff's Virginia Reels, volume IV [1] (Baltimore, 1839), published by George Willig. The sung (falsetto) or shouted 'whoop' feature of the tune was in place already at this time.
