KNOCKNABOUL SLIDE, THE. Irish, Slide (12/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. The title comes from Sliabh Luachra accordion player Johnny O'Leary who said:

Pádraig O'Keeffe

Well, no doubt, 'tis O'Keeffe's. What can we do? What can we call it? 'Tis Padraig had played it first for myself and Denis (Murphy). Over in Jack Lyons's, and he gave it to Seamus Ennis the same way. 'Tis he--'tis Patraig gave ws the most of them, you know. Could we christen it something else? Call it 'The Knocknaboul Slide' ... [Moylan]

Source for notated version: attributed to west Kerry fiddler Pádraig O'Keeffe [1] (1887 – 1963) by accordion player Johnny O'Leary (Sliabh Luachra region of the Cork-Kerry border) [Moylan].

Printed sources: Moylan (Johnny O'Leary of Sliabh Luachra), 1994; No. 289, p. 167.
