MR. SHEARER OF BUCHROMB'S STRATHSPEY. Scottish, Strathspey. F Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by William Marshall (1748-1833). Mr. and Mrs. Shearer were friends of the Marshall family, and frequent visitors to them at their farm in Keithmore, mentioned in Marshall’s letters of the time. They lived in Buchromb house in lower Glenfiddich (Moyra Cowie, The Life and Times of William Marshall, 1999). See also the companion tune “Mrs. Shearer of Buchromb.”
