OLD BOOT, THE. English, Jig. G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody and dance instructions appear in Marjorie Heffer and William Porter's Maggot Pie (1932), a book of twenty-five new country dances written and composed in the Playford style. It was controversial when published, and the 'new' dances were not allowed to be introduced in some English Country Dancing circles for many years. See Colin Hume's remarks on the book [1].
