QUEEN’S COMMISSIONER, THE. Scottish, Air (4/4 time). E Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Biography:J. Scott Skinner (1846-1927) for Sir Henry Ponsonby, who has been variously described as Queen Victoria's private secretary and 'Master of the Household'.
The office of 'Private Secreatary to the Queen' was created after the death of Prince Albert, and Sir Henry Ponsonby was the most memorable man who filled the post. For twenty-five years he arranged her schedule, drafted her speeches, and acted as liaison with government officials.
