OLD VEST AND CRAVAT, THE (An Sean Beist 'S An Carabat). AKA and see "John Doe," "Shanavest and Caravat (1)/Shanavest and Corovoth (1)," "Wicked Yeoman." Irish, Hornpipe. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. See note for "annotation:Shanavest and Caravat (1)." The vest and cravat tie were tokens of Irish faction fighters in the 19th century, but were also worn by a variety of classes in Europe and the United States, including laboring men, in the mid-19th century.
