SCALDED POOR MAN, THE (An Fear Bocht Scallta). Irish, Air (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). One part. "Scalded" here means "vexed" or "mortified,” explains collector P.W. Joyce, who elsewhere says the term is translated from one or the other of two Irish words, loisc [lusk], to burn; and scall, to scald.
