The tune is contained in the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork cleric and uilleann piper Canon biography:James Goodman. Goodman researchers Hugh and Lisa Shield note relationships with collector George Petrie's "Catholic Boys (1)" and Breathnach's Cathaoir an phíobaire/Piper's Chair (The)."
