"Annie Dalgarno" was composed by Aberdeenshire fiddler-composer and Scottish dancing master [[wikipedia:James_Scott_Skinner]] (1843-1927) and dedicated to this older sister Ann Skinner Dalgarno, who was born in Lanching, Kincardineshire, in November, 1827.  She married Thomas Dalgarno (1825-1888) in 1851. Their son (one of ten siblings) is recorded as having danced the Sword Dance and Highland Fling at the concluding recital of one of Skinner's dance assembly seasons at Fochabers, along with Skinner's adopted daughter Jeannie, who dance a Highland Jig.  Ann died in 1886 at age 58.
