The melody was originally published in Bride's Twenty Four Country Dances for the Year 1769 (London). It subsequently appeared in Charles and Samuel Thompson's Compleat Collection, vol. 3 (London, 1773), Straight and Skillern's Two Hundred and Four Favourite Country Dances, vol. 1 (London, 1775), Skillern's Compleat Collection of Two Hundred and Four Reels and Country Dances (London, 1780), Longman and Broderip's Compleat Collection of Two Hundred Country Dances (London, 1781), and James Aird's Selection of Scotch, English, Irish and Foreign Airs, vol. 5 (Glasgow, 1797).
