MARKET GIRL{'S}, THE (Cailin an Margaid). Irish, Double Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The compositon was credited to one J. Sullivan in Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883). The jig is one of many tunes gleaned from the collection by Capt. Francis O'Neill for his 1903 Music of Ireland and 1907 Dance Music of Ireland compendiums, presumably because the surname of the composer gave it an Irish provenance (although the tune does also have an Irish character).
