It was transcribed by William Dauney in 1838 and published in Edinburgh under the title Ancient Scottish Melodies. It is currently in the National Library of Scotland. "Prettie Weill Begann Man" was thought to be ancestral to the reel "Lee/Lea Rig (The)."
