Back to Ranting Lads of Sunderland (The)
RANTING LADS OF SUNDERLAND, THE. English, Hornpipe (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was possibly composed by Gateshead fiddler and publican James Hill, whose heyday was in the first half of the 19th century. The hornpipe was printed in the 1880's music magazine called Kohler's Violin Repository, and, although there is no composer attribution with the tune, some of Hill's other compositions were published in the periodical.
