The melody is a version of Norwegian musician Gotthard Eriksson's "Kristiania-Valsen," composed at the end of the first decade of the 20th century. It was recorded as "Olso Waltz" around the year 1931 by Scottish accordion player William Hannah [1] (1891–1961), of Blackburn, near Edinburgh.
