NATCHEZ HORNPIPE. American, Hornpipe. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The dates of publication are variously given for Oliver Ditson's Boston Collection (e.g. 1840, 1850 and 1910), and it was obviously reprinted several times. However, it was advertised in other volumes at least dating to 1844 (end page of Asa R. Trowbridge's The Temperance Melodeon), so c. 1840 would seem a reasonable date for the first publication.
