DEVALS DEAD. AKA and see "Braes of Mar [1]," "Some say the Devil's dead." English, Scottish. England, Northumberland. One of the "missing tunes" from Vickers' 1770 Northumbrian dance tune manuscript. The title comes from a ditty sung to the melody, which goes:
Some say the Devil's dead,
The devil's dead, the devil's dead;
Some say the Devil's dead
And buried in Killarney.
