Back to Hey Ho My Honey
HEY, HO, MY HONEY. AKA and see "I Am a Poor Shepherd Undone," "Distressed Shepherd (The)," "Slaughter House." English, Air (6/4 time). G Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "Hey, ho, my honey" is the earlier title for the tune. The melody and dance instructions were first printed in John Playford's Dancing Master, 7th edition (1686), and were reatained in subsequent editions of the long-running series through the 18th and final edtion of 1728 (then published by John Young, heir to the Playford publishing concerns).
