DUCKS IN THE OATS [1] (Na Lachain sa Choirce). AKA and see "Bryan O'Lynn (2)," "John Mahinney's No. 2." Irish, Jig. D Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Jackie Small, in CRÉ V (1999), finds "Bryan O'Lynn [2]" a related tune. John and Julia Clifford recorded "Ducks in the Oats" under the title "John Mahinney's no. 2." Breathnach had the tune from Kerry fiddler Denis Murphy, who also had a verse with it, beginning:
The ducks in the oats and no-one to turn them,
Ó, muise, Dia linn, what will we do with 'em.
