DULL SIR JOHN. English, Country Dance Tune (6/8 time). G Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was first published by Playford in his English Dancing Master (1651). The dance and tune were retained in every edition of the long-running dancing master series through the 18th and final edition of 1728, then printed in London by John Young, heir to the Playford publishing concern. There appears to be no information to be found regarding the title.
