Back to Dull Sir John
DULL SIR JOHN. English, Country Dance Tune (6/8 time). G Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune was first published by Playford in his English Dancing Master (1651). "Dull Sir John" was retained in every edition of the long-running Dancing Master series through the 18th and final edition of 1728, then printed in London by John Young, heir to the Playford publishing concern.
