Back to Farewell Reel
FAREWELL REEL. AKA and see "Cill Abhail," "Killavil Reel (1)," "Mick Finn's." Irish, Reel. A tune played at 'American Wakes' (where the emigrant would be feted before he/she left the old country), according to the former Sligo flute player Tom Byrne who played the melody at such gatherings himself before he too emigrated.
